Supporting Partners and InitiativesShop and Donate!Together with our partners, OneWorld Health is working hard to raise awareness about neglected diseases. Here are a few of our latest initiatives and partnerships. OneWorld Health Teams-up with Flip Video, OneWorld Health was thrilled when it was selected in June 2009 as Flip Video's latest Flip for Good partner. As a Flip for Good partner, OneWorld Health has designed several Flip Video camcorders which are available for purchase on TheFlip.com website. The designs were donated by San Francisco artists and graphic designers, Sara Blackwell, Tana Powell and Carol Finkelstein and were inspired by the people of India that OneWorld Health serves through our programs. Ten dollars from the sale of each OneWorld Health-designed camcorder will support iOWH's work to develop safe. effective, affordable life-saving medicines for the world's poorest people. This partnership aims to further raise awareness of the drastic need for new lifesaving medicines to treat neglected diseases. A Beautiful Partnership: PANDORA Jewelry's OneWorld Health CharmInspired by OneWorld Health's mission to develop safe, effective and affordable medicines for the world's poor, PANDORA Jewelry created the "OneWorld Health" charm for PANDORA's signature charm bracelets. For every charm sold, Pandora will donate $20 to the Institute for OneWorld Health. A sparkling water drop shape dangles underneath the charm as a symbol of the lifesaving hope OneWorld Health provides with every drop of medicine it develops for those who need it the most but can afford it the least. Slumdog Millionaire: Helping This Year's Feel-Good Movie Do GoodCapitalizing on Academy Award-winning Slumdog Millionaire's remarkable momentum, OneWorld Health kicked off a campaign to raise awareness of diseases of urban poverty with full-page ad in the New York Times. The eye-catching ad quickly generated widespread visibility and media coverage on NPR, in Fast Company, on The Huffington Post, at Skoll World Forum and far beyond - and sparked conversations with other global health leaders about partnering on further initiatives. We will be rolling out new off-line and online campaign activities and events. Raising AWEARNESS with Kenneth ColeLast fall, iOWH joined Kenneth Cole, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, and Robert Redford among other prominent changemakers to celebrate the launch of AWEARNESS: Inspiring Stories About How to Make a Difference. Edited by longtime advocate and designer Kenneth Cole, Awearness is an inspiring collection of stories and conversations by ninety individuals who have effected meaningful social change. The launch party was held in Kenneth Cole's Union Square store in San Francisco to honor Bay Area AWEARNESS contributors, including iOWH founder, Dr. Victoria Hale, Ph.D., whose essay is featured in the book. |
