The Institute of OneWorld Health continually invites pharmaceutical researchers and industry professionals to form collaborative partnerships. We are dedicated to conducting an international search for the most promising solutions for neglected infectious diseases. We evaluate each identified lead according to a number of criteria to decide whether a given compound warrants further development. We prefer to work closely with the lead originators and inventors, form partnerships to seek funding, and secure rights to develop these innovations for the noncommercial markets in the developing world where they are needed most.

Each partnership is unique, and each opportunity varies, so we cannot offer definitive guidelines or requirements for partnerships.

In general, we consider the following criteria:

• Global impact of the neglected disease
• Clinical need and availability of treatment
• Affordability
• International standards for research
• Ethics

For compounds that have moved beyond research stages:

• Efficacy
• Ease/Cost of synthesis
• Chemical stability
• Toxicity profile
• Available preclinical and clinical data
