OneWorld Health Names New Board Member

Kyle Brings Global Pharmaceutical Experience to Board

The Institute for OneWorld Health, a nonprofit pharmaceutical company, today announced that Frederick W. Kyle has been elected to its board of directors for a two-year term. Mr. Kyle has spent his career in the pharmaceutical industry, including living and working in developing countries.

“I know firsthand how serious infectious diseases are in developing countries,” stated Mr. Kyle. “OneWorld Health has found a unique approach that can be successful, and I look forward to contributing further to its success.” Mr. Kyle brings to OneWorld Health extensive experience as a pharmaceutical executive, board member, and consultant. He is chairman of BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corporation, and a director of Avant Immunotherapeutics, Inc., Arrail Dental Ltd., and International Trial Access, LLC. He has served as vice chairman of Pharmaceutical Marketing Services Inc., chairman of CytoMed Inc. and executive chairman of Principia Pharmaceutical Corp., companies that were acquired by or merged with larger firms between 1995 and 2000.

From 1992 to 1994, he was senior vice president of the American Red Cross, with responsibility for its blood and tissue donation programs in the U.S. From 1980 to 1991 he was with SmithKline Beecham, serving in his last position as president of the pharmaceuticals division’s worldwide commercial operations and a member of the corporation’s board of directors. He began his pharmaceuticals career with Richardson-Vicks Inc., serving in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. Mr. Kyle is a trustee of Swarthmore College and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a resident of Philadelphia, Penn.

“Fred’s breadth of experience in the industry and in the developing world will be a tremendous asset to us,” stated Founder and CEO Victoria Hale, Ph.D. “It will be crucial as we develop new drugs and formulate plans on how these medicines can effectively reach people who need them most.”

The Institute for OneWorld Health, a nonprofit pharmaceutical company, advances global health by developing new affordable medicines for infectious diseases that disproportionately affect people in the developing world. OneWorld Health accomplishes this through an entrepreneurial business model in which its scientists identify promising drug leads and drive their development from pre-clinical studies to clinical trials through regulatory approval. The Institute for OneWorld Health, headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., is a tax-exempt 501(c) (3), U.S. corporation (www.oneworldhealth.org).
