How We Work

The Institute for OneWorld Health Diarrheal Disease Program is comprised of teams of experienced and committed scientists and drug developers.  There are currently three projects in the Program: CFTR inhibitor (CFTRi), Shigella/antimicrobial, and zinc.

In order to achieve the goal to launch new therapeutics for diarrheal disease (DD), iOWH solicits strategic and technical advice from global diarrheal disease experts in gastroenterology and public health.  The formation of the Strategic Advisory Board (D-SAB) was initiated to provide guidance on expansion of projects within the DD portfolio.  Individual projects are also advised by topic-specific Technical Advisory Committees (TACs).  iOWH also works closely with research institutions, universities, and contract laboratories all over the world.

Diarrhea Strategic Advisory Board

The Diarrhea Strategic Advisory Board (D-SAB) provides external oversight and strategic guidance on the overall direction for the Diarrheal Disease Program.  The D-SAB is involved in the development of the DD Strategic Plan and reviews and endorses annual work plans proposed by the project teams.  Furthermore it guides the expansion of the product portfolio through regular interactions with project team leaders.

The D-SAB members are appointed for a three year term and meet annually.

CFTRi Technical Advisory Committee

The CFTRi Technical Advisory Committee (CFTRi-TAC) provides technical guidance to ensure successful development and execution of drug development plans and selection of high quality leads for the CFTRi project.  The CFTRi-TAC members are appointed for a 3 year term and meet every quarter to provide guidance to the team.  Additional TACs will be established for the other two programs; Zinc and Shigella/Antimicrobial.
